BASIC CORROSION (BC)

 

The Basic Corrosion (BC) course covers a basic but thorough review of causes of corrosion and the methods by which corrosion is identified, monitored, and controlled. Active participation is encourage thorough hands-on experiments, case studies and open discussion format. A written exam is given at the end of the course. A person who successfully completes this course will know enough about corrosion to be able to pursue additional study and professional development through the NACE Certification Program.

Who Should Attend:

Anyone who need the ability to recognize corrosion and understand its devastating potential, and how to monitor and/or control corrosion, especially as it relates to his or her area of responsibility. This includes:

  • Technicians
  • Salespersons
  • Inspectors
  • Managers
  • Engineers

Prerequisites to register and attend the course: No prior training in corrosion control is required. However a basic understanding of science and chemistry is highly recommended.

Certification: To receive a certificate of completion* must be attend the entire course and successfully pass each learning assessment for the course. With Basic Corrosion Course the student can achieve the corrosion technician certification submitting at least two years work experience to Nace International.    

*The Certificate of Completion should not be interpreted as the award of NACE Institute Certification.
